The people of NSW deserve safe, clean, accessible, public transport. Right now, the NSW Government is refusing to deliver that.
The NSW Government’s handling of public transport in recent years has been nothing short of atrocious.
It has privatised our buses; introduced driverless trains; blown billions on overseas-made trains and trams that don’t work properly on our networks; developed the dodgy Transport Asset Holding Entity; and even shut down the entire rail network and tried to blame it on workers. The list of transport bungles is long and concerning.
The NSW Government is now pushing back on the simple safety, hygiene and anti-privatisation asks rail workers are putting forward as part of their current enterprise bargaining agreement.
Rail workers are fighting for what commuters want and deserve too.
That includes:
- An end to transport privatisation. Commit to not privatising our railways, Stamp out insecure work, ditch the dodgy labour-hire companies and staff our transport systems with workers in secure government jobs;
- Safe transport. Guarantee that no changes to our transport networks will make them less safe. That includes keeping safety-critical staff on board our trains, tracks and stations;
- Improved hygiene on our public transport services for workers and the community;
- Respect. Give commuters and transport workers the respect they deserve – starting by ending the deadlock and resolve rail workers’ industrial claims.
Rail workers are putting their claims forward in their workplace negotiations, but we want everyone to have the opportunity to tell the Premier and Transport Minister that we deserve better when it comes to transport.
Will you sign our letter to the Premier now and demand he get our transport back on track?

Dear Premier and Transport Minister,
We write to you out of concern for the NSW Government’s handling of our public transport.
In recent years, your government’s handling of our transport has been nothing short of atrocious.
Read all of the letter
You have privatised our buses; introduced driverless trains; blown billions on overseas-made trains and trams that don’t work properly on our networks; developed the dodgy Transport Asset Holding Entity; and even shut down the entire rail network and tried to blame it on workers. The list of transport bungles is long and concerning.
Right now you are even pushing back on the simple safety, hygiene and anti-privatisation asks rail workers are putting forward as part of their current enterprise bargaining agreement.
Commuters and transport workers want the same thing – safe, clean, accessible, public transport, but your government seems unwilling to deliver that.
We’re calling on you to deliver:
- An end to transport privatisation. Commit to not privatising our railways, Stamp out insecure work, ditch the dodgy labour-hire companies and staff our transport systems with workers in secure government jobs;
- Safe transport. Guarantee that no changes to our transport networks will make them less safe. That includes keeping safety-critical staff on board our trains, tracks and stations;
- Improved hygiene on our public transport services for workers and the community;
- Give commuters and transport workers the respect they deserve – starting by ending the deadlock and resolve rail workers’ industrial claims.
The people of NSW deserve better when it comes to public transport. We’re urging you to address our concerns immediately.
Regards,
Concerned NSW commuters and transport workers
Add your name and ask the Premier to get our transport back on track!
